Phase 7: Evaluate & Maintain
Overview
Evaluating Your Site
Planning For Maintenance
At the beginning of the project, specific goals and objectives for the web site were outlined. Now that the project is completed and the site is live, take a step back and review data to see if the original objectives were met. How do you (or your client) intend upon getting user feedback? Will you be depending on customer complaints or comments directly from the site? Will you be conducting usability tests post launch? Will you be analyzing server logs? As you move into the evaluation and maintenance phase, prepare to take notes for site improvements down the road. A web site is a living thing. It will continue to evolve and grow in iterative stages. Whether you are an external team doing periodic evaluation and maintenance, or an internal team that now has ownership of the site, the following section will outline steps you can take to assure the successful growth of the website.
